Collaborative curiosity: Exploring multimodal expression with newcomer voices with Elise White Díaz | IMPACT 2025

This session was originally presented at IMPACT 2025, a free virtual conference by Ellevation. Visit our videos page for other session recordings from the conference.

How can we foster collaborative curiosity with multilingual newcomers, inviting them to discover and share their voices while building belonging from day one? In this interactive workshop, participants will explore how curiosity-driven partnerships with students unlock multimodal pathways for authentic expression. Through co-constructed texts, visual storytelling, and playful exploration, we'll discover together how engaging all four language domains—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—creates spaces where students feel safe to share their stories. By staying curious alongside our learners, we build inclusive communities where every voice matters.
